February: A Tap Music Playlist for a Productive Month
Welcome back tap dancers!
When I began compiling songs for this list I realized February is quite a busy month.
February is:
*Black History month here in the U.S. and...
*when we recognize Groundhog Day. (I included a song from the movie by that name.)
*when we celebrate love (and chocolate) with Valentines Day which also happens to be...
*when we celebrate Gregory Hines' birthday.
All of this in a month that is less than 30 days long & Presidents' Day is even in there somewhere.
I hope you have as much fun tap dancing to this eclectic tap song playlist as I did pulling it together!
Tap songs in this playlist include:
"Glory (From the Motion Picture Selma)" - Common, John Legend
"Drunks (From the Motion Picture Groundhog Day)" - George Fenton
"Maple Leaf Rag" - Eubie Blake (Born February 7, 1887)
"Doctor Jazz (From Jelly's Last Jam) " - Jelly Roll Morton & Gregory Hines (February 14, 1946)
"Magalenha" - Sergio Mendes (February 11, 1941)
"Let's Groove" - Earth, Wind, & Fire
"On Our Own (From the Ghostbusters 2 Soundtrack)" - Bobby Brown (February 5, 1969)
"I Wanna Be Down" - Brandy (February 11, 1979)
"Chariot" - Gavin Degraw (February 4, 1977)
"Say Hey (I Love You) From the Motion Picture Valentine's Day" by Michael Franti & Spearhead
Try something new this month. And, yes, tap dancing to new music totally counts!
